O – O was midpoint in his 2nd year at Nottingham University, applying for summer internships to boost his CV and prepare for the 3rd year recruitment season. Super organised and preparing early which is great but not achieving as much success as he hoped with the applications. Annabel worked with O to hone his CV and applications, ensuring that the details he was providing closely matched the job descriptions and experience sought. Increased success and then some interview preparation landed O a 3-week internship at a Big 4 Professional Services firm!

H – academically H has it all – a first-class degree from the University of Exeter, Distinction in their Masters from KCL, but then what?! H’s love of books was the driving force in their life, and they took a Teaching Assistant role to buy some time to review what next steps were post Masters. H came to me having applied for several Archivist and Librarian roles, with no traction from the recruiters. Together we reviewed both CV and LinkedIn profile against the key requirements and competencies in the job descriptions and added in extra detail to match. More focused targeting of applications, some relevant online job simulations and courses, followed by interview prep and H is off to Oxford University to start a Graduate Librarian position! I really loved this one…. Follow those dreams!
B – leaving college at 18, after completing a Graphic Design course, B landed a fantastic job at a leading financial company and started on a highly competitive and sought after apprenticeship. When that came to its’ natural end 18 months later, B reflected on this career direction and realised that it was graphics and content creation that was really their passion. It would have been easy to stay within the finance world having started there, but B and I really analysed their 5-year plan, hopes and goals and working in finance just wasn’t featuring. B is now focusing on applying for roles in the design world, whilst are also building up their portfolio and feeling they have regained some control over their career path.

A – entering her Masters’ year at Warwick, A had applied to about 60 jobs, with limited success. Unsure of the reasons behind this, A reached out for a CV review and some general advice. We identified her weaker areas – mainly lack of work experience for the challenging financial market she was applying to – and suggested some free virtual online job simulation programmes that she could do to boost that gap. Bolstered by some fresh application success and polished with some interview preparation, A is well on his way to the next chapter of her life.
